Germán Ormaechea

He holds a degree in Communication from FIC (2007). He specialized in documentary filmmaking at EICTV. He has worked in film since 2009, participating in more than 40 films in various roles.

Executive Producer - Director - Actor

With his production company Animista Cine, he released the feature films Summer Story and Winter Story by Gabriela Guillermo and Irina Raffo, Chacra by Ernesto Gillman, The Breakup by Marina Glezer, and Love Sleeps in the Street by Guzmán García. He is a co-producer of the film The Message by Iván Fund, which won a Silver Bear at the 2025 Berlinale.

 

Animista is also producing: Germán Ormaechea's * El Anhelo del Alma* , Pablo Doudchitzky and Germán Ormaechea's *Lágrima *, Eduardo Lamas's *Dios es una palabra*, José Dell Acqua's * Maltrato Animal* , Paula Bonilla's *Taco de Reina* , Gabriela Guillermo 's *¿Cómo hiciste para quererme tanto?* , and Teresa Curzio's * Kilómetro 0* . She is also co-producing Verónica Chen's *Mar Dorado*, María Eugenia Lombardi's *Afromilonga* , and Joana Carro's *Me llamo Erik Satie como todo el mundo* with Roken Films. She is an executive producer/associate producer on María Laura Berch's *Interior Living Noche*.

 

Alongside the production company Nadador Cine, he served as executive producer on: Juan Gonnet's *El gaucho y los caballos de viento*, Pablo Solarz's *La mujer Perfecta*, Renata Pinheiro and Sergio Murilo's *Vaqueros Dorados*, Pablo Dotta's *El swing de Mariko*, and Matías Ganz's *La justicia*. He also worked as executive producer on Celina Murga's *El aroma del Pasto recién cortado*, Matías Lucchesi's *El Casero*, and Alicia Scherson's *Guerra de Verano*. He also served as production manager for the Antonaccio brothers' *Matarifes*. Additionally, at Nadador, he was a line producer for the Amazon Insecta service in 2025.

 

As an actor, he has worked alongside Javier Drolas, Marina Lima, Joaquín Furriel, Jorge Bolani, Alfonso Tort, and Esteban Bigliardi, among others. He was shortlisted by Uruguay for the Platino Awards in 2025 for Best Supporting Actor in a Series for his role in "Is Love?"

 

As a director, he is finishing his first film, The Soul's Yearning, about the life of the dancer and therapist Graciela Figueroa, and is developing Lágrima, about the Afro-Uruguayan singer Lágrima Ríos.
